Membership

The California Outlaw Racing Association is a Non-Profit organization that is run by it's members. Every member has one equal vote for how CORA is to operate. New Board members will be nominated at the beginning of every new year.


   

 

A membership application can be downloaded from the Download Center.  Every member needs a separate membership form completely filled out and signed (front AND back).


Parents of Drivers under 18 years of age need to provide a copy of their child's birth certificate.


Membership entitles driver to compete in all series championships throughout 2009 race season. (see Note)


NOTE: CHANGE to Beginner Box Stock Class: 


 


This class is designed as a learning class, with the intent of teaching young drivers:


·       Race track etiquette


·       Track Rules


·       Race format and Flag expectation


·       Allow the development of basic racing skills in a safe environment


 


To promote the class intent the  Beginner Box Stock class has become a NO Points / NO Payout class. 


All Beginner Box participants will get an award ( some form of trophy / plaque / medallion) at the end of every race. 


 


When Drivers (and their parents) have accomplished the goals of this class, they can then move to a competitive racing class and start participating for points and payouts.


 


CORA Members

 

The membership of this association shall be open to California residents interested in supporting the sport of dirt track racing. All members, by accepting membership in the association agree to abide by the by-laws, rules, regulations and policies.


Executive Board Members

 

Executive Board Members are responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Association. The term of office for Board Members is one year for the President and Vice President. The Secretary and Treasures Positions are 2 year terms. Executive Board Members may be re-elected to serve an unlimited number of additional consecutive terms.


Committee Chairs

 

According the the CORA Bylaws, Chair Persons are appointed or disbanded at the discretion of the President to support CORA Programs or Projects.

To date, the President has delegated these appointments to the membership to be voted upon at annual elections.


Roles and Responsibilities

 

President

Call and preside over meetings, general supervision, appoint chairpersons as necessary publish and present agenda.

 Vice President

Preside in absence of President, performs duties assigned by pres. Fundraising chairperson, coordinate advertising and sponsor drives.

Secretary

Keep minutes, and distribute, keep attendance and membership records, correspondence as required, maintain files of board policies, provide all notices about meetings etc. prepare fliers as directed, perform duties as assigned by the pres.

Treasurer

Custodian of all monies and property, develop financial controls, make reports/budget as required, present a financial report at each meeting, be a member ex official of all fund-raising activities, perform duties as assigned by the pres.

Chair Persons are appointed or disbanded at the discretion of the President to support CORA Programs or Projects.  Current CORA Program Chairs:

Rules Committee Chairperson

Organize, prepare and implement track operating rules.  Present to board and general membership any recommendations.  Be a member ex official of the Discipline committee.  Provide guidelines to tech, and verify rules are followed.

Discipline Committee Chairperson

Organize, prepare and implement discipline procedures.  Hold discipline meeting within 7 days of complaint/incident. Be a member ex official of the Rules committee, Present to the Board and general membership any recommendations regarding discipline.

 Track Maintenance  Committee Chairperson

Organize and coordinate all work at the track.  Prepare track and surrounding areas for race day.  Schedule track work days regular, keep running list of areas needing work.  Prepare and make recommendations to the board and general membership any track needs.

 Race Day Organization Committee Chairperson

Organize, prepare and implement plan and schedule for race day.  Be a member ex official of the rules committee. Present to the board and general membership race day procedure, coordinate track volunteers.

 Marketing/Fundraising Committee Chairperson

Organize, prepare and implement fundraising activities, present to board and membership.  Organize, prepare, and advise of all marketing, sponsor drives.  Provide press releases and articles for local papers.

 Members Liaison Committee Chairperson

Provide information to the board of any questions issues or ideas, from the general membership.  Responsible to assure the membership is aware of new policy and procedures Be member ex official of the Rules and Discipline Committee. Act as a go between for the best interest of the membership.
